“According to tantra, perfection is not something that is waiting for us somewhere in the future… Everything that we need in order to be complete is within us right at this very moment. It is simply a matter of being able to recognize it. This is the tantric approach.”
Lama Thubten Yeshe, ‘An Introduction to Tantra’
Lama Yeshe calls tantra as a “vision of totality,” a way of seeing that we suffer because we are forever looking for something outside ourselves when the answer is there within us all the time. Visualiing ourselves as a buddha helps us overcome our sense of ordinariness and lack of self-worth by “bringing the result into the present.”s This a powerful tool to destroy our delusions and unlock our full potential.
We will use Geshe Tashi’s book, Tantra, Lama Yeshe’s Introduction to Tantra and some material from Rob Preece. For a taste of tantra we will practice the female buddha of compassionate action, Green Tara.
