Each session includes two meditations lasting approximately 20 minutes each. The first meditation is on the breath, and the second is different each week. This is followed by an opportunity to reflect on the experience, and to ask questions.
This drop-in group is aimed at complete beginners and experienced meditators equally. The meditations taught at the group do not lead you away from basic reality but closer towards it.
Grounded in common experience and reason, when practised regularly, they can help you to develop a calm, focused and clear mind that enables you to improve your life, relationships and activities.
The meditations are led free of charge by experienced meditators, who select meditations for their universal applicability. While the class leaders are mostly but not exclusively from the Buddhist tradition, the class is secular.
“In meditation practice, you might experience a muddy, semiconscious, drifting state, like having a hood over your head: a dreamy dullness. This is really nothing more than a kind of blurred and mindless stagnation. How do you get out of this state? Alert yourself, straighten your back, breathe the stale air out of your lungs, and direct your awareness into clear space to freshen your mind. If you remain in this stagnant state you will not evolve, so whenever this setback arises, clear it again and again. It is important to be as watchful as possible, and to stay as vigilant as you can.” ~ Dudjom Rinpoche
