The value of meditation for creating a calm space in our very busy lives, and the consequent benefits for our health and well-being, has increasingly been recognised.
Meditation also provides many tools for consciously working with our minds to recognise and reduce those attitudes and mental habits that repeatedly cause problems for ourselves and those around us. Equally, we can develop positive and skilful states of mind, enabling us to be of greatest benefit in our world, and realise our full human potential.
We can to a great degree become our own therapists, leading to a more wholesome and happier life – starting right now, right where we are.
Whether you aspire to take a break from the hectic pace of urban life, want to learn simple meditation techniques, or wish to benefit from the collective energy of practicing with a group, you are welcome to join our new meditation class.
Suitable for complete beginners and more advanced meditators, these drop-in sessions are an opportunity to develop inner peace, understand how the mind works, and to share our experience with others.
During these sessions, we’ll practice mainly two of the various types of meditation. In a typical session, we would begin first with a placement meditation to help settle the mind. Then we would engage in analytical meditation to understand how problems arise and how we can reduce them, and how we can promote positive mind states. There will also be plenty of time dedicated to discussion, so that participants may raise questions, explore answers and share their experiences.
The sessions begin at 7.00, but you may log on earlier (from 6.45) to chat.
These workshops are open to anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding and experience of meditation, whether Buddhist or not .
